Celebrating 50 years of German-Canadian STI Cooperation
Interviews on German-Canadian Cooperation on STI
50 Years German-Canadian Science Technology Cooperation
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Bilateral Intergovernmental Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement signed in 1971 by Canada and Germany, paving the way for a successful partnership between both countries to advance technological innovation and scientific excellence.

As a result of five decades of close and amicable partnership, collaboration between Canada and Germany on science, technology, and innovation (STI) today extends to various fields and includes more and more organizations.

Under the auspices of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and Global Affairs Canada (GAC), together with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), the German-Canadian STI community celebrates in 2021 the successful and trustful transatlantic collaboration through a series of events highlighting the diversity of research and technology projects.
Looking Behind Transatlantic Cooperation
The German Canadian Concourse is very pleased to take part in this jubilee. For almost ten years, the GCC has been providing a unique platform for transatlantic exchange on trending topics and has been bringing Canada and Germany together on innovation. During so-called Transatlantic Symposia, the GCC connects academia, companies, and start-ups to stimulate matchmaking on relevant innovative themes.

The encounters between researchers, corporates, and entrepreneurs from various fields at the annual GCC conferences have led over the past years to fruitful joint German-Canadian projects. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the STI Intergovernmental Agreement, the GCC wants to showcase success stories of bilateral cooperation in a series of interviews with members of the GCC network.

Further, we invite people who want to set up a German-Canadian STI project to share their vision for future transatlantic cooperation.
The German Canadian Concourse has built over the last years a far-reaching network of governmental, institutional, and corporate partners. It is with great pleasure to organize the GCC interview series on meaningful STI collaboration between Canada and German with the support of the following organizations.

The GCC proudly present this feature as an official contribution to the 50th anniversary celebration.
